Georgia, a young unwed woman burdened by her social-economic conditions in postwar 1960’s Athens, Greece, is forced to give up her son to an orphanage. A nurse helps Georgia bond with her son in secret, which gives the young protagonist hope that she will eventually be reunited with him. As the months go by, mother and son cherish the few hours they get to spend together. In the meantime, a couple arrives in the Greek capital looking to adopt a baby boy into their family. A deal is struck quickly. In the end, Georgia’s fate will be inextricably linked with that of the woman who will mother her child, changing their lives forever.
